Roof Repair
View serviceIt depends on the age of the roof, how widespread the damage is and the condition of the decking underneath. Isolated problems such as a few damaged shingles or a failed flashing detail are usually repairable. If the damage is widespread or the roof is near the end of its life, a replacement may make more sense. We inspect the roof and explain both options.
Yes. Leaks that appear only during heavy rain or wind-driven storms are common. We look closely at flashing, seams, vents and other entry points and trace the path the water is taking to reach the inside of your building.
Yes. We repair flat and low-slope roofs, which are common on brownstones, row houses and commercial buildings, as well as pitched shingle roofs on houses.

Roof Replacement
View serviceMost residential roof replacements take a few days, depending on the size of the roof, the roofing system, the condition of the decking and the weather. We give you an expected timeline with your estimate. Larger buildings, flat roof systems and roofs with significant deck damage can take longer.
Yes. We remove the old roofing down to the deck. This lets us check and repair the decking and install the new roof on a sound surface.
Roofs can be replaced in cooler months, but weather affects scheduling and how some materials are installed. We plan the work around the forecast and protect your home if conditions change.
We install asphalt shingle roofs on pitched roofs and flat roof systems on brownstones, row houses and commercial buildings. We recommend the option that best suits your building and budget. We will explain the differences between the options in plain language so you can make an informed decision.
Flat Roofing
View servicePonding usually happens when drains or scuppers are blocked, or when the roof surface has low spots. Clearing the drains and correcting low areas helps water move off the roof as it should. Standing water that stays for more than a day or two after rain is worth having inspected.
Often, yes. Isolated problems such as open seams, blisters or failed flashing can usually be repaired. If the roof is failing across large areas, a replacement may be the better long-term choice. We will explain what we found and why we recommend one option over the other.
Yes. We work on flat roofs on brownstones, row houses, apartment buildings and commercial properties across New York City.
It is a good idea to have a flat roof checked regularly and after major storms, so small issues can be caught before they become leaks inside the building. Spring and fall are good times for a routine check, after winter weather and before the colder months.
Shingle Roofing
View serviceLifespan depends on the type of shingle, the quality of the installation, attic ventilation and weather exposure. A well-installed and well-maintained shingle roof can last many years. We can assess the condition of your current roof and tell you what to expect.
We match the existing color and style as closely as possible. On older roofs, new shingles may look slightly different at first because the existing shingles have weathered over time. The difference usually becomes less noticeable as the new shingles weather.
In most cases, we recommend removing the old shingles. This lets us inspect and repair the deck and install the new roof on a sound, even surface. It also avoids extra weight on the roof structure and hidden problems trapped under the new layer.
Good ventilation lets heat and moisture escape from the attic. Without it, trapped heat and moisture can shorten the life of both the shingles and the roof deck.
Siding
View serviceYes. We can replace damaged sections and blend them with the existing siding. On older or faded siding, an exact color match may not always be possible, and we will tell you what to expect before we start.
It depends on the size of the home, the condition of the walls and the amount of trim work involved. We give you an expected timeline along with your estimate. Weather can also affect the schedule, and we will keep you updated if anything changes.
In most cases, yes. Removing the old siding lets us check the wall underneath and repair any damage before the new siding is installed. It also gives us a chance to add or repair the weather barrier so the new siding performs as it should.
Properly installed siding and well-sealed trim help reduce drafts and protect your walls from the weather, which can make your home more comfortable. Gaps around windows, doors and corners are often the biggest sources of drafts.
Gutters
View serviceMost homes benefit from gutter cleaning at least once or twice a year, especially in the fall. Homes near large trees may need more frequent cleaning to keep water flowing freely. If you see water spilling over the edge during rain, it is usually time for a cleaning.
Overflow is usually caused by clogs, gutters that are too small for the amount of water coming off the roof, or gutters that are not pitched correctly toward the downspouts. We look at all three possibilities and fix the real cause, not just the symptom.
Often, yes. Loose gutters can usually be reattached and re-pitched with new hangers. If sections are badly damaged or rusted through, we may recommend replacing them.
Yes. Downspouts carry water from the gutters to the ground. Positioning them to direct water away from the foundation helps prevent basement leaks and foundation problems. Even a short extension at the bottom of a downspout can make a real difference.
